Local businesses

Why do people think that shopping at large superstores are so beneficial to their household...Is buying 400 rolls of paper towels at a time necessary? I guess 'just in case' you have a big spill, you'll be all set. All of these mega stores really bug me. Compare an experience in going to these stores(which I refuse to go into to) to an experience going to corner store run by a local or run by a small business owner. Hmmm, maybe you'll save x cents in buying 400 rolls but by the time you drive to the megastore, park, deal with the the masses, is it really worth it? Maybe a charmed life would include giving your business to stores and restaurants not run by large corporations. If you were running that business, wouldn't you hope people would buy from you. I realize there are times when a 'chain' is the only option, but I just want people to make an effort to support the local businesses when they can rather than just going thru the motions. Perhaps this is one path to a charmed life.
